Badrinath Temple In Badrinath :
Badrinath is considered the holiest of the four important shrines in Garhwal.
The town is at an altitude of 3,133 m. above sea level, situated on the left
bank of river Alaknanda and exactly between the two mountains Nara and Narayan.
The shrine is dedicated to Vishnu the preserver and falls in the religious
itinerary of every devout Hindu.
Kedranath Temple In Kedarnath :
One of the holiest pilgrimages for the Hindus, Kedarnath Temple Jyotirlinga
is located in the picturesque surroundings of Rudra Himalaya Range at a height
of 12000 feet on a mountain named Kedar. Near Kedarnath is the source of the
river Mandakini that joins Alakananda at Rudraprayag. This place is approximately
150 miles away from Hardwar and 132 miles north of Hrishikesh and is accessible
by foot.
Gaurikund Rudranath Temple :
The face of Lord Shiva is worshipped at the Rudranath temple, at an elevation
of 2,286 Mt above sea level and is 23 km from Gopeshwar. 5 km of the distance
is motorable and the rest 18-km has to be trekked. The trek passes through
wild orchards and picturesque bugyals and involves trekking over high ridges
(some times 4,000 Mt). The temple site provides magnificent views of Hathi
Parvat, Nanda Devi, Nanda Ghungti, Trishuli and many other peaks.
Naina Devi Temple In Nainital :
Those yearning for solace, peace and salvation, Nainital is the ideal place
as this charming hill resort got its name from the Goddess Naina Devi. At
this place both the eyes of Devi sati had fallen to the earth. In this temple
Durga Maa is in the shape of Pindi (Shrine) Devotees in great number visit
this place during Navratras and on Ashtami (Eight Day ) of the month of Shravan.
Mansa Devi Temple In Haridwar :
Situated on the Vilwa Parvat this temple can be reached on foot, by road,
or through the ropeway. The top of the hill gives an excellent view of Haridwar.
It is a Shrine dedicated to Mansa Devi, wife of the Nag King Vasuki. Maa Manasa
Devi temple is one of the most important temples of North India and the second
most important destination after Har-ki-Pauri in Haridwar.
Madmaheshwar Temple In Kedarnath :
Madmaheshwar Temple one of the panchakedar shrines is located at the foothills
of Chaukhamba in Rudraprayag District of Uttaranchal. Dedicated to Lord Shiva
the temple is perched on a ridge at an altitude of 3,289 meters above the
sea level 25 km north-east of Guptakashi.
Dehradun Lakha Mandal Temple :
About 80 Kms. from Mussoorie on Mussoorie Yamnotri road Lakhamandal is believed
to be the place where Duryodhana of Mahabharat episode conspired to burn alive
the Pandavas in the Lakshyagriha a house specially constructed with shellac.
There is a temple believed to be constructed in the eighth century with a
number of carved figures on stone which are of archaeological significance.
Har Ki Pauri In Haridwar :
Har Ki Pauri or Brahm Kund is the main ghat of Haridwar. It is believed that
it represents the point where River Ganges takes leave of the mountains and
makes it way to the plains.
Gaurikund Temple In Gaurikund :
The temple of Gaurikund in Uttarakhand lies at a distance of 5 kilometers
from Son Prayag. It lies at an altitude of 1982 meters above sea level. Whenever
you go to Kedarnath you will get Gaurikund on your way and it will be the
last bus stop. There is a famous hot spring in Gaurikund of Uttarakhand.
Haridwar Chandi Devi Temple :
The temple of Chandi Devi is situated atop the Neel Parvat on the other bank
of river Ganga and was constructed in 1929 AD by the King of Kashmir Suchat
Singh. Legend has it that Chanda Munda the army chief of the local demon king,
Shumbha-Nishumbha, was killed by Goddess Chandi here after which the place
got the name Chandi Devi. Chandi Devi Temple is now accessible by a ropeway
also which starts near Gauri Shanker Temple.
Baij Nath Temple In Kausani :
This temple complex is located 17 kms from Kausani. Baijnath Temple complex
has many historic ruins. The temples of Baijnath group are decorated with
some intricate and delicate carvings.
Hemkund Saheb In Joshimath :
Gurudwara Sri Hemkund Sahib set amidst towering snow capped mountains and
lying beside a lake of pristine blue water the Sikh shrine of Sri Hemkunt
Sahib looks, even to the not particularly pious a place of almost unbelievable
beauty and peace. Seven peaks known as the Sapt Sring surround the shrine
looming over lush green pastures.
Neelkanth Mahadev Temple In Rishikesh :
Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is considered as one of the most revered shrines
in Haridwar District of Uttaranchal. It is situated on the confluence of the
Madhumati and Pankaja rivers about 12 km from Rishikesh.
Yamunotri Temple In Yamunotri :
The Yamunotri Temple is situated near a hot spring running water in geyser
force and in which the pilgrims cook their food. The Temple of Yamunotri is
at the foothill of the Kalind Parvat at the left bank of the Yamuna at a height
of 3,185 metres.
