Destination : Sham Valley – Kargil – Drass – Srinagar.

From Leh to Kargil, it's a beautiful drive; do take good time to visit the Alchi and Lamayuru Gompas en route. The Zoji La (‘la means pass') between Kargil and Sonmarg opens at 4am for traffic from Kargil. The army allows small car traffic to leave before the trucks and army convoys. It is advisable to be at the Meenamarg checkpost - 86 kmfrom Kargil - by 4 am. You should leave Kargil latest by 2 am. The pass is shut for repairs on Fridays and no traffic.

Srinagar has traffic like most other Indian cities. The roads to Gulmarg and Pahalgam are quite wide and smooth, and the highways well marked. The locals are helpful people. The army is omnipresent in Kashmir, but not intrusive. If you are stopped and asked questions, cooperate and you won't be bothered. NEVER jump a roadblock. Always stop if you are signaled to by men in uniform.

Day 01 : Leh to Uletokpo. (73 Km)
Morning after breakfast drive to Uletokpo. Enroute visit Alchi and Likir Monasteries. Overnight at Ule Ethnic camp.

Day 02 : Uletokpo to Kargil. (168 KM)
Early morning drive to Kargil Enroute visit Lamayuru monastery. Overnight at hotel D’Zozila at Kargil.

Day 03 : Kargil to Srinagar. (204 KM)
Early morning drive to Srinagar Enroute visit Sonmarg. Arrive Srinagar in the evening. Check in DLX. Houseboat for overnight stay.

Day 04:Srinagar
Morning Shikara Ride at Dal Lake. Later proceed for full day sight seeing of Srinagar visiting. Mughal gardens, Shankaracharya Temple and Gulmarg. Overnight at Deluxe houseboat.
