The city of gardens and India's IT
capital, Bangalore is on the tip of every traveller's tongue today. The city

Climate
Bangalore enjoys a moderate and pleasant climate all the year round. April
to June is the summer time and the weather is mild. The mean temperature
during April (Warmest month) records 27.1 degrees Centigrade. Winters are
cool and extend from October to February. Temperatures on wintry nights
rarely come below 15.5 degrees Centigrade. The city experiences southwestern
monsoons between June and August.
Cuisines
Bangalore lets you have cuisines from the very traditional to the very
exotic. Udupi restaurants are very popular here. South Indian delicacies can
be enjoyed in city's restaurants. Bangalore is also known for bakeries.
North Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisines are the other added
attractions. The hotels and restaurants of the city offer a number of
toothsome delicacies to give you a complete culinary experience.
Sightseeing
The city of Bangalore is replete with both classic and contemporary
attractions. The
Vidhana Soudha, built in granite with a
total base area of 5,00,000 sq ft, houses the
Secretariat,
the
State Legislature and a number of other government
offices. The doors to the building are gigantic and beautifully carved. They
are carved out of pure sandalwood. Yet another attraction in the city is the
Cubbon Park that is centrally located in the city. The
park that covers an area of 300 acres was constructed by Lieutenant General
Sir Mark Cubbon. There is a library and a park here that are worth visiting.
You can also visit the
Government Museum. The museum with
exhibits of ancient weapons, stone carvings, paintings and other relics of
the past is a huge draw for tourists. There are relics of the 5,000-year-old
Mohenjo-Daro Civilisation as well.
Tipu's Palace is a
must see thing for all. The construction of the palace was begun by Hyder
Ali, while it was finished by Tipu Sultan himself. Tipu used the palace as
one of his summer retreats. The embellished pillars, arches and balconies
give an impression of the designing senses of the king. Other tourist
attractions of the city include
Bull Temple, Jumma Masjid,
St. Mary's Cathedral, Venkataramanswamy Temple, ISKCON Temple,
Gangadhareswara Cave Temple etc.
Getting There
The city of Bangalore has good links with the key destination of India. Jet
Airways, Indian Airlines, Kingfisher Airlines, Air Sahara and Air Deccan fly
regular planes to Bangalore from various cities of the country including
Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Trivandrum, Vishakhapatnam and Kolkata. Rail and
road routes are also well established providing links with cities like
Mysore, Cochin, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Trivandrum etc.
